ReStart offers a variety of First Aid and CPR courses to suit every level of required training.  Courses are certified through the Ottawa Paramedic Service and are taught by professional Paramedics. 

 

Courses are run with a minimum of 10 participants. (In home CPR-C minimum of 6)

Stop The Bleed

CPR C (Adult, Child, Infant) and AED

This course teaches participants how to administer CPR to adults, children and infants.  It also covers topics such as choking and the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator).

CPR C and AED with Basic Life Support

This course is geared for participants that work in the health care industry. It covers Advanced CPR and choking procedure techniques for adults, children and infants.

Content:

  • Scene Management and Primary Assessment

  • Anatomy and Physiology

  • Adult, Child and Infant CPR and Choking Procedures; including modifications for:

    • A patient found unresponsive

    • Witnessed cardiac arrest

    • Advanced paediatric concerns

  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

  • Bag-Valve Mask (BVM)

  • Artificial Respiration

  • Checking for pulse

  • Cardiovascular Emergencies - heart attack, angina, stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA)

Standard First Aid (Includes CPR C and AED)

Introduces participants to the basic functions of CPR by covering all major topics, such as: choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission. This course is suitable for first responder in the workplace.

This course does not meet the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) course.

Standard First Aid (recertification only)

Recertification allows participants to practice and review skills, as well as learn new standards in first aid. 

 

Note: 

This course is only available for individuals that currently have a Standard First Aid certification that is still valid. Proof of a valid Standard First Aid Certification (2-days) must be presented at the beginning of the course. Students unable to provide a current certification at the time of the course will not be permitted to attend. A certification is only deemed to be valid if the expiration date on the card has not passed.  If your certification has expired you must take the full two day standard first aid course.

Emergency First Aid (Includes CPR C and AED)

Designed to give participants a general overview of first aid by teaching you how to think and react in an emergency until medical help arrives. This course is suitable for those who are working as first responders in their workplace.
